Wow - these both look so good!! I was just telling my husband that I want to try to grow blackberries next year, although I don't know how well they will grow here!

Laura

Hi Deborah,
I read in a gardening book recently that a long, mild autumn followed by a short, sharp winter will give a bountiful supply of berries the following year. It has certainly proved true around here this year so if you are blessed with real seasons you should have no problems!

Mmmm, the blackberries with the mascarpone...so simple yet looks soooo good!

You had me at blackberry and mascarpone. I love simple desserts like that after a good round of kebabs on the grill and a good wine. This is going into the recipe box...now!

Meeta

Oh yummy! I just got the last of the blackberries from my mum-in-laws bush and this is just perfect!

Crumble is my all time favourite dessert! Looks lovely. I need to get a hold of some blackberries.

Laura, your photos are so gorgeous, when I tried to take pics of blackberries and apples recently it looked like a terrible road accident, I will stick to books!

Laura

Lynne, if I thought there was any chance of that blackberry and apple jam surviving I'd demand a jar of it now!

Sarah

Hi laura,
I've been forraging for the past few days! I got pears & apples on Monday night and a fine haul of blackberries last night. I was going to make a pear & apple crumble for Friday night but I'm changing that to pear and blackberry now! As for the mascarapone dessert, that'll be Sunday's dessert... I'm going to make apple & blackberry jam with the rest of the blackberries this evening.

Does anyone know if you can buy blackberries. Checked Tescos and M&S and my local fruit and veg shop - all I managed to find were strawberries, blueberries, cherries and rasberries.

Laura

Sarah I suppose like most foragers you'll never give up your locations! I'd settle for a jar of jam, I've seen a few jars around online recently and yet I'm still empty handed...

Kelly-Jane

Blackberries are so good just now, and both these look lovely, the crumble is my favourite, mmm.
